Operations Manager

Job Summary
The Operations Manager leads, manages, and develops the Operations staff. This includes Project Managers, Dispatcher, Installers, Service, Warehouse personnel and Union Carpenters. As part of the leadership team, the Operations Manager works to improve our customer experience and develops a trusting, inclusive and productive environment for the entire department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in the hiring, onboarding, and coaching of all new employees within the Operations department.
Establishes strong relationships with subcontractors and solicits quotes for warehousing, delivery, and installation for significant/competitive projects.
Utilizes quoting tool to estimate labor on small projects and to verify subcontractor quotes on larger opportunities.
Maintains a strong working relationship with the Union Carpenters.
Provides direction to the PM Team lead as well as Project Management staff.
Acts as a Senior Project Manager.
Monitors lead installer assignments and coordinates/prioritizes with scheduling to maximize productivity.
Leads the strategy to effectively maintain our warehouse(s) for receiving and storage of customer inventory.
Develops and implements plans and objectives for the department on an annual basis.
Works with the Leadership team to analyze and improve organizational processes.
Learns the process and completes project management billings monthly.
Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
Leads the effort to maintain fleet vehicles, contracts, maintenance, and procurement.
Coordinates and approves all subcontractor invoices.
Responsible for P&L of the Operations department.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business administration, construction management, or a related field.
7+ years of previous operations or project management experience.
3+ years of experience managing people and teams.
Capable of implementing new structures and roles that boost speed and efficiency while supporting rapidly shifting business demands.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional computer skills with a proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Desire and ability to continuously learn and a “hands on” approach with his/her team.
Skilled at handling high pressure situations.
Current Minnesota driver's license.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous leadership experience in the commercial furniture industry.
A thorough knowledge of Steelcase products and workplace insights.
Familiarity with Hedberg and Matrix for Business.
Physical/Mental Demands
This position can be performed while standing or sitting. Occasional bending, twisting or reaching. The ability to climb stairs is required. Occasional lifting may be necessary up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision. The ability to talk, listen, read and write are important functions of this job. Working Conditions
This position is an office-based position with regular travel required to customer office sites.
