Macalester College

Dewitt Wallace Library Renovation

Goal: Create a destination for all students to touch down for collaboration and have the ability to congregate on campus.

Project Details

Macalester College recognized the need to have a destination for students to collaborate and congregate on campus and decided to renovate their 10,000 SF DeWitt Wallace Library into a place for all students to work alone or together thought the day.

Partnering with HGA Architects and Engineers, Acre was brought on board in the very beginning as the project timeline was on an accelerated schedule.  Our collaborative approach while providing clear communication through the process only increased the efficiency and the success of the project from all parties’ point of view.

Understanding the project goals and sharing the same vision of the space allowed for a clear direction through the entire endeavor. Through multiple user workshops and organizing furniture demonstrations, the furniture settings provided remained flexible and on point with the design leading to a very highly used campus hub.

[Acre’s] understanding of the client’s needs and approach to this unique project greatly contributed to the success of this exciting new space on campus!
